I know that it has been along time since I have posted anything witty or interesting, but my fans are going to have to wait. Between trying to get back to work and helping out with the kids, life (as all of my friends told me and yes you were right) is very busy right now.
So a brief synopsis:
Highs:
- They are both starting to smile. Everyone is convinced (by everyone I mean my Mom and Tracy) that they are smiling. They do appear to be smiling, but I have no idea what they are smiling at. Personally, I think that if you stare at a kid long enough they are going to smile when you face happens to be in front of them. Regardless of the reason, it is REALLY sticken cute, so that gives us hope.
- clinging on - they have both started to hold onto cloths, etc... when they are being held. Again, I think that this is more like they happen to find something in their hand and hold on, but it makes one (at least for me) feel like they want me to hang around, so that is good.
- less random acts of arm motion - both Ava and Owen appear to be starting to understand that those things they flail around can actually be used for something. Owen has started to pull the bottle towards his mouth and Ava appears to be pushing the binky back into her mouth.
Lows:
- Owen has some form of acid reflux (or something like that) which basically means that every time he eats he gets really bad heart burn, so the cycle goes something like. He gets hungry, he wants to eat, he eats about and oz, the acid in his stomach backs up into his throat, which burns, so he cries, but he is still hungry, after about 2 min the burning stops, after about 3 min the crying stops, Owen forgets about the burning, he is hungry, he eats about 1/2 an oz, the acid in his stomach backs up into his throat.... He was taking baby Zantack and is now on his second medication, nothing really seems to be helping. This totally sucks for him and for us - mainly b/c it is heart breaking to see him so clearly in pain. The ironic thing is besides this he is a very happy baby, but since he can not eat a lot he eats 11/12 times a day, so this dominates what is going on with Owen :-(
- Ava: she has actually turned into pretty good kid (she was he fussy baby), I am sure that this award will go back and forth. The big dealio with her has been sleeping. If she does not get it she is a REAL pill. The other day she missed a nap and look out. She was crazy cranky for the next five hours, so we have decided that we don't want to do that any more.
